U-PASS
- All SIP students are automatically assessed the U-Pass fee when registered in a WKEXP course. Please see here for more details
- Students working outside of the serviceable transit area for Edmonton, Strathcona or St Albert Transit may request a UPass fee waiver by filling out a form
- This form will be available approximately 2 weeks before the start of the work term
- Qualifying students will have their name forwarded to the Registrar’s Office and, if approved, the fee will be removed from the student’s fee assessment the add/drop deadline for the term
- Students also registered in an on campus academic credit course may not have their U-Pass fee waived, regardless of work location
- The deadline to apply for an exemption is the end of the term; December 31 for the Fall term, April 30 for the Winter term and August 31 for the Spring/Summer term

FULL TIME STUDENT STATUS
While on a placement, you are a full-time student and pay academic course fees, just like every student. Course fees are assessed for each Work Experience course at the time that the course is registered. Please note that visa students will be required to pay the co-op course fee plus a visa differential.

- Medical and Health Benefits - you will still be able to access the University Health Centre and all the services as a normal, full time student.
- Student loan. SIP students will still be able to have interest free status on loans while on placement.
- SIP students will still be able to apply for a loan while out on placement.
- SIP students will be able to stay in residence for the duration of their internship
